“Know your numbers is a fundamental precept of business,” according to Microsoft co-
founder Bill Gates. Well, here are a few numbers we like …
5 – Our star rating from the HBF. Each year the HBF collates the National New
Homes Survey - one of the largest consumer satisfaction surveys in the country – and uses it
to calculate a star rating for all builders who are part of the scheme. This survey is operated
independently by the NHBC and validated by Reading University and, to achieve the
maximum five-star rating, more than 90% of customers must answer ‘yes’ to the question:
‘Would you recommend your builder to a friend?’.
38 – The number of counties across England and Wales in which you could buy a brand new
Redrow home at the start of our anniversary year. View a map of Britain and you’ll find
Redrow developments everywhere from Harrogate in the north of England down to the
south coast village of Angmering.
43 – The number of different house designs within our Heritage Collection, providing
everything from a 547 sq ft, one-bedroom property to a 2,762 sq ft, five-bedroom detached
house with a family bathroom and three en-suites. And that doesn’t take into account the
different elevational treatments available or properties from our Inspired or Tailored
Collections.
124 – The most show homes our interior design team has styled and dressed in a single year
so far. That total was in 2019. Today we invest between £30,000 and £45,000 in a typical
three or four-bedroom show home (more for larger properties) to ensure each one sells the
Redrow dream. Group interior designer Alysha Alli said: “Of course we want the ‘wow’
factor, but we also work hard to ensure every show home feels like a genuine, well-loved
home, so customers feel at home as soon as they walk through the door.”
145 – Believe it or not, this is the number of different kitchen combinations that can be
achieved within our Redrow homes. Streamlined, contemporary or classic country Shaker
style, there’s a kitchen for everyone; plus beautiful worktops in laminate, silestone or
granite.
390 – The tally of Pride in the Job Quality Awards won by Redrow site managers between
1995 and 2023. That’s as far back as NHBC’s computerised records go, but we’re confident
that some of our site managers won them even earlier (the competition started in the early
1980s). A PiJ Quality Award is one of the most highly regarded in the housebuilding industry
and celebrates the exceptional contribution site managers make in creating homes of
outstanding quality. Of those 390 Quality winners, 97 went on to pick up the even higher-
grade Seal of Excellence and we’ve had 10 regional champions in the large housebuilder
category over the years.
1,933 – This is how many people Redrow directly employs around the UK, either at our
administrative offices or out on site. And don’t forget the thousands of sub-contractors who
regularly work for us and the huge number of jobs we support in the supply chain.
132,000 – The approximate number of homes we’ve built and sold to date during our 50-
year history. We celebrated the 50,000th milestone in 2006. Our 100,000 th legal completion
came just 12 years later in 2018, when Chester restaurateur Tom Culshaw and his wife
Claire, a primary school assistant head teacher, moved into a four-bedroom detached
Oxford at Regent’s Grange, in Chester.
1,386,000,000 – The approximate number of bricks used in building those 132,000 homes.
Fun fact: If you laid those bricks end to end, they’d stretch more than 185,160 miles, that’s
enough to go around the circumference of the earth almost.
